Joining lille—design Business club is participating in a community of economic players, who are committed to a world that is sustainable, fair, and harmonious. It also means being involved in the economic and creative development challenges of our region, including the ambitious perspective of Lille Métropole 2020, World Design Capital.

Design at the crux of the economic world

The lille—design Business Club is richly diverse thanks to its members which count almost a hundred of the region's companies. Since its creation in 2014, the Club has acted in favor of design challenges within the economic world with complete agility:

  • assemble, communicate, and share good design practices,
  • learn from the approaches of others and their testimonials,
  • implant a design culture within one's company.

Originally created as a think tank, the Club naturally connects its members to all actions undertaken by lille—design. It is presided, since its creation, by François Dutilleul, President of the Executive Board of Rabot Dutilleul.

Inspiration, explication and meetings

The club brings its partners together during plenary sessions every quarter. This is an opportunity for privileged dialogue to delve into a subject, an idea, or an approach thanks to testimonials by economic players, or recognized design professionals. The plenary session opens with a Little design lesson, presented by designers, design theorists, or sociologists, who shed light on a specific field. Traditionally, it closes with a cocktail reception where members continue their debates while meeting up with other members.

A word from our Business Club President

It's been 4 years now that the lille—design Business Club has been working to spread knowledge and a better understanding of design amongst economic players. Originally created as a think tank in 2014, today it offers 4 different proposals as well as a bespoke offer intended for all types of companies. Nonetheless, it remains a place for thought where we share best design practices, engage others in the design culture, and shed light on the subject through testimonials presented during our plenary sessions.

But time presses on. 2018 marks a new step paired with an ineluctable time constraint: directing the Club to the ambitious title of Lille Métropole, World Design Capital 2020. Over the two years prior to the celebration, it will be the opportunity, to benefit from design resources and to reveal design's contribution. By promoting meetings between designers and business executives, by multiplying dialogue and diversifying points of view, we will demonstrate that design, when incorporated in a company project, is a step towards progress. Closely linked to economic, social and environmental challenges, design encourages a holistic and deeply transformative approach: the company changes and can better anticipate change. The creative process is centered on use and so, everything becomes possible

2018 will be a time to bring forth your needs and to build your possibilities. Beyond echoing these needs, the lille—design Business Club will be your support moving towards 2020. The Club also observes others elsewhere which is why this year we'll take advantage of planned visits and study trips in our region, in France, and abroad. As always, our aim is to better understand change so we can better support change.

Join us!
