As part of Lille Métropole 2020, World Design Capital, the Louvre-Design exhibition presents a singular reflection: the origin of objects, even before the emergence of the discipline of design. It invites visitors to wander through five millennia of our material world and opens new dialogues between objects from the past and those from the present.

This book accompanies the exhibition Past Present, Industrial Memory presented at Le Fresnoy - Studio national des arts contemporains from 15 October 2020 to 03 January 2021.

As part of Lille Métropole 2020, World Design Capital, the exhibition Past, present, industrial memory presents the confrontation of a strong regional industrial history with the current views and practices of designers. Four emblematic companies, recognised for their exceptional know-how, have been associated with three designers, under the gaze of Alain Fleischer, filmmaker. The result is the production of new objects, a true celebration of living heritage. This project highlights the added value of design at the heart of the company, its openness to innovation and differentiation.
